Henbury & Broken Cross JFC was set up in 1997 by Ron Booth the present Chairman, this was achieved with the help of Joyce and Ray Cooper. The main reason for this was to give the children of weston estate an interest, at the start there were no signing on fees, Ron managing to find our loyal long serving sponsors and raising other money as necessary.
In 2000 our then U15s won their division and was rewarded by a tour to Cornwall. In June 2000 the then manager of the U15s had a serious accident followed in August by Ron having a stroke. It was only due to a lot of hard work and some help that the club servived. Unfortunately the team disbanded and some left for other clubs. The following season we again setup an U11s team, later finding that a few of the players were just over the age limit to play in the Stockport metro league. We were able to fulfill our fixtures as friendlies captained by Stephanie Smith, proberly the first girl to play in the SML. She was later asked to play for Stockport ladies but, opted for Macc instead and still scoring goals.
We have seen some changes in managers over the years, but now have a very good team, whom have taken the FA Coaching badges. We are hoping that in time we can add other age groups and possible a girls football team. Keep visiting this site for more information.
Henbury & Broken Cross JFC have been playing football in several Cheshire leagues over the years and have a good reputation. We have helped to develop some good players who have taken their football further at different levels. We returned to the Stockport Metro League in the 2002/03 season by entering just one team, this season 2007/08 we will have more teams representing the club. We want to advance as a club and have invested in training and our own skills to help promote a safe and friendly enviroment for your child to play the game of football, they will benefit from FA qualified coaches, a child protection officer, and all management staff have been Advanced CRB checked.
We will encourage your Child to not only respect the game of football but each other.
Henbury & BC strongly support the FA's motto that playing Junior football should be for fun.
